With the feverish pace of life, kids and work, it is important to make time for yourself. Rest and relaxation are essential for your physical and mental health. It inspires a positive attitude, and healthy self-esteem.  Use these easy tips to make your bathroom environment the get-away you desreve. 

  1. Use an abundance of towels. Surround the bathroom in plush white towels. Choose white, and roll them on shelves to simulate a spa experience. Your bare feet will appreciate a plush bathmat to feel between your toes.
  2. Keep warm. Purchase a warming towel-rack to heat your towels and the room. A floor-warming system, such as Nuheat, will take the chill out of your ceramic tiles.
  3. Use Feng Sui to determine colours. Add a fresh coat of paint to the walls. Choose lighter shades of green, blue, silver sage, lavender, and yellow. The water element is already represented with the sink, tub, shower and toilet. Colours that incorporate the “wood” element, such as light blues and greens, feed off the water element and create a sense of balance.
  4. Lighten up. Install warming lights into the ceiling in front of your shower. This will take the chill out of the air when you come out of the bath. Use dimmers to control the light intensity.
  5. Accessorize with candles. Use floating candles in the bath or the sink. Put up wall-mounted candleholders to create the grand feel of a great hall.
  6. Keep it Natural. Use small pots of fresh herbs from the kitchen such as lavender, rosemary, or sage. Avoid air fresheners that contain toxic chemicals.
  7. Enjoy nature. Surround yourself with flowers and plants. They will clean the air and bring colour and the pleasantries of the outdoors, in.
  8. Soak it up. Use Epson salts to soothe achy muscles and enjoy their luxurious scents.
  9. Nourish your skin. Rub your body with olive oil.For itchy or irritated skin, wrap oatmeal in a cheesecloth, tie with a ribbon and place in the water. Create a homemade facemask with oatmeal, yoghourt and warmed honey.
  10. Organize. Hide items such as hair dryers, lotion bottles, and other beauty products. Keeping the bathroom tidy and organized will help you to de-stress.
